The underlined passage is from a book I am reading with a men’s group, Man’s Search for Meaning, by Viktor E. Frankl. Frankl is talking about thinking into the future, for what he hopes will happen, after he is delivered from his current situation, which is a miserable existence in a Nazi concentration camp. When I read the passage I thought of this verse out of Mark, that tells us to pray as though we have already received what we are praying for. Believe it. See it. Some would call that faith. Frankl’s thoughts may have been just thoughts, maybe thoughts in the form of a prayer. Regardless, he had the faith that he would be delivered, and he was eventually delivered and wrote a book that has more than 16 million copies in print worldwide – about the very subject he described.

BEFORE YOU READ TODAY’S PASSAGE…
STOP: Lord, where is my heart today?
LOOK: Lord, help me discover new truth from your Word today.
LISTEN: Lord, what is your thought for me today from your Word?

So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:24‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

RESPOND:
Lord, what do I need to talk with You about?
Lord, what are you asking me to do?
